Buy Neti Pot & Sinus Supplies: Reviews & Recommendations
Looking to buy neti pot supplies or a new neti pot? Sometimes, the choices can be a bit daunting. Below are some personal recommendations as well as a list of the top sellers from Amazon, along with commentary and observations to help you choose.
Recommendations for Neti Newbies
NasalFlo Plastic Neti Pot With Sinus Rinse Packets
This was the very first neti pot I purchased, and I was glad I did. If you're a neti newbie, this has some features you'll appreciate as you take the nasal irrigation plunge for the first time. (BTW, this is the neti pot I used in my neti pot how-to video, in case you'd like to see this pot in action.)PROS: If you're new to nasal irrigation, you'll probably like the fact it's plastic. It's unbreakable, the spout fits comfy in the nostrils, and it has a handle and lid to minimize droppage and spillage. It also comes with pre-measured sinus rinse packets, which makes things nice and simple for beginners. CONS: It's inexpensive and looks it. Because it's plastic, it won't exactly last forever, and you won't want to display it on the mantle above your fireplace, that's for sure. You may find yourself buying this neti pot to start with, and then working your way up to a more advanced model as you get more experienced and comfortable with nasal irrigation.
Sinus Rinse Packets - Great for Beginners & Travel
Unless you buy neti pot models with packets included, you'll need to mix your own nasal irrigation solution. It's pretty darn easy, especially if you already have measuring spoons & pickling salt on-hand. But it's even easier if you have handy-dandy sinus rinse packets. Basically, you just add the correct amount of warmed, purified water, and you're ready for nasal irrigation fun. (Okay, fun might be relative...)
PROS: Super-convenient, great for travel. Just add water, and you're good to go. No need to buy neti pot salt the sneaky way, meaning by hitting the pickling salt aisle in the grocery store. CONS: Not quite as cheap as buying pickling salt and measuring it out using the quarter-teaspoon-salt method.
Amazon's Neti Pot - The 10 Most Popular
Wonder no more. Below are the ten most popular neti pot purchases, courtesy of Amazon's world-class ranking system, data pulled in late 2011.
#1 Himalayan Institute Ceramic Neti Pot. This cute little pot is billed as "the original," and it's incredibly popular, obviously. It looks like a nice design, but note that it doesn't appear to have a lid. This is pretty standard for ceramic neti pots, but it's worth mentioning if you tend to be the sloppy type. Also, it doesn't appear to include neti "salt" packets, which means you'll need to make your own, not buy neti pot salt packets, all-inclusive style. No biggie, jut something to remember.
#2 NeilMed's Sinus Rinse Pre-Mixed Packets, 100-Count Boxes (Pack of 2). Aha! See, I DO have good taste. Since I've covered this above in my personal recommendations, I won't bore you with more pseudo-witty observations. But those packets really ARE convenient. Oh yes, they are.
#3 NeilMed Sinus Rinse - 2 Bottles - 250 Premixed Packets - Value Pack. This is an interesting neti pot alternative. Basically, instead of a pot, it uses a squeeze-bottle approach. One of my co-workers swears by these, especially for travel or doing a quick nasal rinse at the office. (Yes, I do discuss my nasal irrigation habits with my co-workers. Doesn't everyone?)
#4. SinuCleanse Nasal Wash System, Plastic Neti Pot With Salt Packets. This entry-level neti pot indicates that it comes with salt packets. From researching the manufacturer's Web site, it appears that the quantity of packets is 30. You could irrigate your nasal passages every day for a month before you had to buy pickling salt or replacement packets.
#5. Alkalol - A Natural Soothing Nasal Wash, Mucus Solvent and Cleaner Kit - with Cup, 16-Ounce. I've tested this product personally, and can say from experience, it's quite interesting. For full details, please see my Alkalol Field Test Results overview. If you want to buy neti pot extras, it's definitely worth considering.
#6. SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System. The neti pot concept goes high-tech. These things are pretty amazing. The irrigator delivers both a gentle pulsating mist spray for doctor recommended rinses, solutions, or simple moisturizing and a more thorough cleansing pulsating rinse to clear the sinuses and massage the nasal cilia to their normal, healthy state. (For more about these "power neti pots," please see the sinus irrigator overview page.)
#7. Ancient Secrets Ceramic Nasal Cleansing Pot. This is another neti pot I own personally. There are several things to like. For one thing, although it has no lid, it does have a "lip" of sorts, which helps keep spillage to a minimum. However, it doesn't come with a large supply of salt or sinus rinse packets. Because of this, and because it's breakable ceramic without the comfy plastic spout, this may be a better choice for an intermediate neti potter or newbies with steady hands and natural neti talent, whatever that is.
#8. Himalayan Institute Original Neti Pot Complete Sinus Cleansing System Starter Kit. Buy neti pot supplies all in one. This handy-dandy starter Kit contains the full gamut of introductory neti supplies. In addition to the ceramic neti pot, it includes neti pot salt, jar, and Neti Wash PlusĀ® 2 oz bottle.
#9. Himalayan Institute- Neti Pot Salt Jar. This jar contains pure non-iodized salt, without additives or anti-caking agents. Specs indicate it's Pharmaceutical Grade, 99.99% USP grade salt, the highest purity salt commercially available.
#10. NeilMed NasaFlo Unbreakable Neti Pot with 50 Premixed Packets. Aha! There you are. As explained at the top of this Web page, this was my first neti pot, and I think it's an excellent good choice for beginners. It has a handle, lid, it's unbreakable, and it's comfy in the nose. This makes it an ideal neti pot for beginners, and neti pros who value comfort more than style.
